AT&T launches branded navigation service – AT&T Navigator

AT&T Navigator

AT&T is taking what seems like a Verizon-like route by launching a carrier-branded navigation service. However, they went one step further making the so called AT&T Navigator the “only mobile phone-based GPS service that provides integrated speech recognition for address entry and points of interest search.” In addition, the location service offers other features like real-time traffic updates, ability to compare gas prices and get directions to the nearest gas stations, and mobile access to YellowPages.com.

AT&T Navigator is designed to provide you with clear and precise audible and visual turn-by-turn driving directions, including full-color moving maps, using GPS directly from your wireless phone. Working with TeleNav, whose navigation service has been available on AT&T PDAs since 2006, AT&T is now introducing its own branded next-generation GPS navigation service for all consumers. The service is available on GPS-capable PDAs and handsets, including the new consumer-focused Motorola Z9.

AT&T Navigator is already available for Windows Mobile and select BlackBerry (8310, 8800 and 8820) smartphone owners, as well as for the newly launched Motorola Z9. Monthly subscription costs $9.99 while the “Day Pass” is available for $2.99… AT&T’s release has more information.
