Samsung getting Android 2.2 Froyo to users ASAP, wants simple upgrade for customers

Samsung users might be getting a little frustrated with Android 2.1 Eclair – if they’re even aware of the software version differences – so Sammy is cranking away at a simple upgrade method for its users. Of course, with Android 2.2 Froyo, users will be able to store apps to their SD cards, access Adobe Flash 10.1 and a whole lot more. Because of its custom UI, the upgrade path to Froyo hasn’t been a quick one.

Unofficial ROMs have hit the wild, but Samsung and its carrier partners have advised against upgrading with unofficial software releases.

In a series of tweets over the weekend, Samsung said it was working on getting the Froyo upgrade out to users “soon” and that it wanted “Galaxy S owners to have simple/reliable upgrade.”

The manufacturer is still working on testing the Android version with its UI and hardware, so we can only assume that it’s coming any day now. After all, the Nexus S that Samsung built for Google is running the latest Android version – 2.3 Gingerbread. The least it can do to appease the Android geeks in the U.S. is by bringing them out of the antiquated version of the Google OS and into the somewhat newer one.
