I love it when I hear about apps built for the greater good. That’s why, when I read about the new ‘Tiga Talk’ speech therapy game put together by the good folks at Tiga Talk 3 and Tactica Interactive, I instantly had the urge to tell you about it… so here we go.
The new title (available now in the App Store for $1.99) delivers a creative and unique take on speech therapy for youngsters. Put together with the help of licensed speech and language pathologists, it’s a unique (and affordable) way for kids to improve their speaking clarity and confidence while enjoying some pretty darn fun voice-controlled games. By speaking sounds displayed on screen into your iOS-powered device, your youngster can drive a boat, helicopter, race car, fly a rocket ship and much more! There’s a whole bunch of lessons, games and options built-in… along with some very solid help features in case you get stuck.
Teachers may want to take note, as the app could no doubt be an excellent teaching tool for use in the classroom. Key benefits include:
- Learn to pronounce sounds more accurately including syllables, letters, and letter combinations
- Improve coordination and strength of speech muscles
- Learn through sound repetition and imitation
- Differentiate between sounds and create a broader base vocabulary
- Improve communication between the brain and the body through visual and auditory aids
- Improve communication with peers and adults
- Improved literacy and language skills
- Instill a sense of pride and confidence
- Game play based on actual speech therapy sessions
