T-Mobile USA announced that users with myTouch 3G 3.5mm Jack and myTouch Fender LE will be getting an Android 2.2 Froyo update by February 1st. The update will be sent in “staggered waves” starting from January 12th, when folks will be able to Froyo-ize their devices in an over-the-air fashion.
myTouch devices affected should be fully charged before beginning the download. Moreover, it is advised that you sit in a WiFi hotspot zone to make the process as smooth as possible. Once those two criteria are met, you’re ready to go. Of course, it is first required that your myTouch informs you about the update being available.
The Android 2.2 Froyo update will provide a number of benefits, including a new and enhanced homescreen experience, improved Microsoft Exchange email integration and the addition of Faves Gallery.
Finally, T-Mobile reminds us that this update is not for the original myTouch 3G users, which got it between October 13, 2010 and December 15, 2010.
