We all know that the Swype keyboard can be used to help you text message faster but it turns out it can help even if you’re not using hands. A quadriplegic man was able to use the Swype keyboard, headtracking software and a computer to set a new Guinness World record for fastest typing without using your hands.
Hank Torres, who has no feeling from his shoulders down, was successfully able to write, “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.” in 83.09 seconds.
This isn’t the first time that Swype has been involved in world records, as this keyboard replacement software has shattered multiple texting records. It seems like every major device besides the iPhone comes with this software preloaded.
More importantly though, the video below will show you how it’s done and it portends a future where devices can be more accessible to all.
