Twonky Mobile streams content from your iPhone to a TV, lets you control other connected media devices

Last time we talked about PacketVideo, they’ve been acquired by Japan’s NTT DoCoMo. Today we bring you the story involving their iPhone app called Twonky Mobile, which allows users to access content from their iPhones and play it instantly on web-connected TVs and devices like Roku, Xbox 360, Blu-ray players, PS3, etc. No need to tether the iPhone to a PC, the whole process is done wirelessly.

Additionally, you can use Twonky to digitally connect your home using the iPhone, control media and send content around the house to web-connected devices — i.e. you can beam music from your PC to a Sonos S5 in the kitchen.

Finally in addition to iOS, Twonky Mobile is also available for the Android, which beginning today has Apple AirPlay support.

Commenting on the launch, Twonky Product Group’s Angela Scheller said: “By bringing Twonky Mobile to the iPhone we’ve created a simple and seamless way to wirelessly connect all the devices in a person’s home and give them more ways to experience media content anytime, anywhere.”
