U.S. Army Accessions Command launched an iPhone app and a mobile website as part of its Army Strong Stories blogging and storytelling platform.
The main idea behind the initial creation of the (non-mobile) platform was to engage potential recruits via social media and extending the experience to mobile phones seems like a logical step forward.
The native iPhone app obviously provides a better user experience, but the mobile website is also powerful. For instance, folks can use it (application or a mobile website) to upload content, including text, photos and/or videos. Moreover, all of the information about the Army is also there, along with links to the official website for U.S. Army Recruiting and the official website for the U.S. Army…
At the end of the press release, U.S. Army Accessions Command shared some cool figures about its social media efforts – U.S. Army Recruiting currently has more than 76,000 fans on Facebook and over 92,000 on MySpace. Moreover, it has about 1,100 Twitter followers and more than 45,000 YouTube channel views.
