Seesmic for Android Updated with Facebook Support and New Widgets

Seesmic had recently updated their social networking app for iPhone to include access to Facebook Pages, and not to leave the adorable green robot in the cold, they’ve updated the Android app with the same feature and a few other goodies. On top of access to multiple Facebook accounts and Pages, this update includes new widgets for Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz, and Salesforce Chatter (which was added in their last Android update not long ago). For those who feel the need to cheat Twitter’s 140 character limit, Seesmic now supports TwitLonger, as well as support for Goo.gl if you need to save some characters when pasting URLs into tweets.

All the old functions are there, like checking your Twitter timeline, handle direct messages, reply to mentions, share pictures, and edit your profile. Seesmic has a wide range of language support, for those international folks looking for a solid Twitter client.

Seesmic’s primary competitor in this space is HootSuite, who recently updated their BlackBerry app with a few new features. It seems like Seesmic is drilling into more niche-y social networks, while HootSuite is nailing down and polishing the popular ones, but both have a common thread in that they have established web-based social networking clients which sync up with the mobile apps.

If you’re interested in giving it a shot, you can find Seesmic in the Android Market.
