While the dust is still settling from the iPad 2 announcement the other day, many are no doubt deciding whether or not to throw their hard-earned dollars down for Apple’s latest ‘Post PC’ device. The reaction from friends, family and colleagues I’ve talked to thus far has been mixed. They were either blown away, or underwhelmed. Doesn’t seem like there’s any grey area on this one. Either you love the iPad 2, or you hate it… and quite frankly, I’m not surprised.
With the iPad 2 clearly on the brain for most, I thought I’d switch things up a little with some plain ‘ol app launch news for iOS junkies. I received a note the other day from the folks at Discovery, letting me know that a new Discovery Channel App for iPad has been launched. It’s free to download, and packs quite a few features, and brings great images, videos, tv schedules and more, right to the tip of your fingers.
Key features include:
- See what’s on prime time tonight in your location. When you find something you want to watch, tap the alarm clock to set a tune-in reminder. Also, scroll through the featured shows and videos for a taste of what’s on TV.
- Watch video, learn more about the show and cast, and browse through photos from production photography shoots. This is also where you initiate your Chat session with show hosts and fans, check the TV schedule for a particular show and buy full episodes through iTunes.
- If your favorite show is on during prime time, tap on the I’m Watching button to check in and let you’re friends on Facebook and Twitter know what you’re watching, all while you get the latest social media updates from Discovery and joining the conversation with fellow fans.
- Browse Discovery Channel’s full TV schedule for up to two weeks. If you find something interesting, tap the alarm clock to schedule a tune-in reminder.
