CaptureCode is bringing its mobile marketing system across the U.S. Launched in select markets earlier this year, it allows consumers to scan a 2D barcode loaded with individualized promotional offers and take advantage of discounts at a growing number of merchants.
On the other side of the equation, merchants can use the same system to tailor their promotions specifically to the buying habits of individual customers and eventually provide the “ultimate customized coupon experience.”
CaptureCode is designed as an all-in-one engine for merchants to help support customer acquisition and customer retention programs by giving them the ability to conduct mobile- and web-based sales promotion, loyalty and gift card programs. By allowing consumers to download a free 2D barcode application to their smartphones, they can tailor promotions in real time to the specific customer, based on their buying habits. Consumers on their end sign up to the desired merchant to receive email and/or text messages about new promotions and discounts that suits their individual needs.
I haven’t seen this in action, but it does sound promising as it should enable merchants to push only the relevant offers to consumers. That, of course, requires some additional work on behalf of merchants, but I guess something’s gotta give…
