Expedia.com will soon launch the Expedia Hotels app for iPhone and iPod Touch, with a promise to give travelers an “intuitive, quick way to research, filter and book hotel rooms” from their mobile device. The upcoming application comes on the heels of the company’s recent acquisition of Mobiata, and is said to be the “first in a series” of mobile initiatives planned for this year.
Among the key features Expedia Hotels will pack, we highlight:
- An interactive map view that shows all hotels in the area with the ability to narrow down choices by price, rating, popularity and/or distance.
- Hotel ratings provided by TripAdvisor with the highest rated hotels clearly marked.
- Each hotel listing is described with its amenities and details, plus there are also photos presented in a “gorgeous hotel slideshow”.
- Just four taps are required to move from research to purchase.
- Once booked, you will be able to get directions to the hotel, share confirmation via email, and add the reservation directly to your iPhone calendar.
Finally, right from the launch, Expedia Hotels will be a global app, with 20 local currencies supported…
