Bing mobile website gets better image search, real-time transit and directions, iOS app search and more

Microsoft has recently updated Bing’s mobile website (m.bing.com) for HTML5-capable browsers. Strange enough, Windows Phone 7 users still can’t access the revamped website, and the new features have been demoed by a Microsoft employee on an iPhone.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Transit Directions and Real-Time Transit – allows users to better organize both their daily commute and weekend trips. Bing provides users with the duration of the trip based on walking, transit and traffic information. Additionally, the update also comes with real-time transit information for Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles.
  • Image Search has been improved to make for a “faster and smoother” experience.
  • Shopping – shopping experience is re-organized to make it easier for you to comparison shop and discover product details and user reviews while on the go.
  • Weather Update – Weather Auto-suggest and Instant Answers have been added to the search bar – just start typing and Bing will give you the details before you finish. Additionally, the Weather tab has been revamped, sporting four different forecast views – overview for the day, an hourly forecast, a 10 day forecast or even the current weather pattern on a map.
  • iOS App Search – in addition to the normal search results, Bing now also returns a list of relevant iPhone apps.
  • Movies – search for movies is now organized by time and nearest theatre, along with reviews, synopsis, trailers and additional information.

And if you have a Windows Phone 7 device, you’ll have to wait for the HTML5 support which will be added later this year.
