Samsung and Verizon Wireless made the Droid Charge official today. The 4G handset was originally introduced during Verizon’s CES press event in January. The Droid Charge will join the HTC Thunderbolt in Verizon’s LTE handset portfolio and includes the following specs:
- 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display
- 1 GHz processor
- Rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with LED flash
- Front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat
- 4G LTE– (download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps)
- Support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and more
- HTML 5 compatible browser, Adobe Flash Player support
- Mobile Hotspot that supports the sharing of a 4G connection with up to 10 WiFi-enabled devices or a 3G connection with up to 5 devices
- Samsung Media Hub – Films and TV programs for rent or purchase from Samsung’s content service
- Virtual QWERTY Keyboard with Swype
- Android 2.2
The Droid Charge will cost you $299 with a new two-year customer agreement. The 4G handset will require a voice plan of $39.99 per month and an unlimited 4G LTE data plan for $29.99 per month. For more information, check out the press release on the second page.
