Sibblingz’s social gaming platform Spaceport is now in version 2.0, enabling mobile game developers to build a game once using JavaScript, and have it play across every major global smartphone operating system, including iOS, Android and Symbian.
According to the press release, Spaceport was developed in order to easily create games that run as hybrid HTML5/native apps that can be played on any device as efficiently as native apps.
Aside from making development easier, Spaceport also promises to radically improve the updating process, requiring only the revision of the JavaScript code in the HTML page once. After doing so, developers will see immediate updates take place in their game(s) across every device it’s running on, without updating app stores.
Finally to show off the platform’s capabilities, Sibblingz launched its own synchronous role-playing game, MiniQuest, which demonstrates the technology. MiniQuest will be available in Apple’s AppStore, Google’s Android Market and Nokia’s Ovi Store this year and playable across 1 billion smartphones…
