Many of us have been waiting for quite some time for the HTC Flyer – a sexy Android tablet that also happens to support a stylus – since we first caught glimpse of it a few months ago. We’re happy to see that the FCC has approved the device, so it should really be coming along any day now. After all, pre-sales for the HTC Flyer kicked off late last week at Best Buy for just $499.
The Flyer runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which might sound like a drag with Honeycomb already out on the market, but in my experience the tablet version of Google’s mobile OS is still half-baked and could use a bit more work. In this case, I think Gingerbread works perfectly for the 7-inch, 1.5GHz HTC tablet. It also has a custom Sense UI, which makes navigation and screen and widget customization a little easier – and quite frankly a bit more attractive than stock Android.
So, will you pick one of these up? Let us know! After all, at $499 it is probably the best bang-for-the-buck you can get when it comes to Android tablets. In fact, once this thing goes on sale, it’ll be the best deal on Android tablets unless you really want one in the neighborhood of 10 inches.
