HP EliteBook and ProBook notebooks to come with prepaid 3G from Sprint

As part of the plan to add an extra value to its EliteBook and ProBook users, HP has teamed-up with Sprint and Peregrine Network to bundle 3G access with the notebook purchases. The mobile broadband service is available to select users (we’re not sure what “select” exactly means, though) through the HP DataPass mobile broadband service.

Select notebooks come with free trial (prepaid) access, which [access] can be extended by purchasing additional megabytes when needed. However, we’re talking about a service that should be cheaper than what you normally pay for Internet access in some hotels or at airports. In that sense, it could be pretty useful.

Moreover, there’s the ability to meter the bandwidth consumption and check “Remaining Megabytes of Use” at any time. In addition, the service comes with built-in help system that helps users select the right plan for their needs, based on how many hours of web-browsing, number of emails or amount of video-viewing they expect to need.

Peregrine Network manages the service and you can get additional details from them… Or on your next notebook purchase, presuming you’ll be getting the HP EliteBook or ProBook.
