Greystripe conducted a study to find out how moms are using smartphones when shopping. According to the mobile ad network, over 66% of moms now use their devices in the shopping process. Of those that do so, 45% use their smartphone to locate the nearest store, 36% for price comparison, 31% for new product research and 57% for mobile coupons.
Moms are not relying on smartphones only for big item purchases. Rather, 42% of them use it while grocery shopping, in a variety of ways: 32% for shopping lists, 21% to look up recipes and 14% to do a price comparison.
Moreover, Greystripe’s research found smartphone moms are receptive to advertising, with 55% indicating that advertising plays a role in their purchasing decisions and 91% preferring free apps with ads over paid apps without ads.
Finally in case you care to know, Greystripe collected the data during a three-month period from November 16, 2010 to February 15, 2011.
