Unique way to promote mobile gaming site

It’s a known fact mobile gaming is set for an explosive growth and it doesn’t surprises that many of the top handset makers want a piece of this lucrative market. According to Juniper Research, this [mobile gaming] market will reach $10 billion within a year…

With marketing efforts like the one illustrated on the image above, we’ve no doubts Juniper’s numbers are on the target. What you just saw is a half-body statue from Shibuya, Tokyo’s main shopping area, where online game company NHN Japan is promoting its mobile game website hange.jp.

When people approach and touch the statue’s arm with their mobile phone, the application site will automatically open and a lucky winner will be rewarded with $10,000. Now if that’s not a good marketing I don’t know what it is.

Best of all, this isn’t the only statue NHN Japan has — there are a series of these located throughout the city.
