Mobile app developer John Vella unveiled a new version of its SongCatcher app, touting it as the “first fully functional recording studio environment on the iPhone platform designed around capturing creativity at the moment of inspiration.” We say it’s an updated version and we’re sorry we missed it once it was originally announced (cause it sounds interesting).
Anyway, the application is made to cover functionality of comprehensive midi devices and features both Audio and MIDI recording, making it the “ultimate solution” for the songwriters who are looking for a sketchpad.
You can choose between two modes, one tailored specifically for professional musicians (Project mode), and the other one for enthusiastic amateurs (Simple mode). There are 10 layers of recording (5 for audio and 5 for MIDI), resizable Piano Keyboard to play instruments (including Piano, Electric Piano, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Distorted Guitar, Synth, Organ, Strings and Horns), MIDI editor, mixing functionality, tempo track, ability to convert audio to MIDI, export MIDIs and so on…
