TECMO BOWL Throwback brings arcade classic football action to the iPhone

I’ve played a lot of games in my time. That’s why it’s a good thing that I made a living out of it or else it might look like I have a terrible gaming addiction. One genre of game I have become bored with has got to be sports games, that is, unless they’re arcade sports games such as NBA JAM. That’s why when I heard TECMO BOWL Throwback was released onto the iPhone, I had to write about it.

If you’ve ever played TECMO BOWL, then you’ll know exactly what to expect as Tecmo Koei has kept the game true to its original roots. TECMO BOWL Throwback for the iPhone is a remake of the same game that was released last year on the XBLA and PSN, except it has multi-touch based controls. The game comes with 30 teams to play as or against, and three different modes: Preseason, Season, and Allstar. The only downside is the game doesn’t come with a multiplayer mode, which would have been a huge addition.

If you’re a fan of classic arcade-style football games, then this is a game you should certainly pick up as TECMO BOWL was one of my absolute favorite games growing up.
