BMW’s new Android app turns drivers into collective engineers in creating the EV cars of tomorrow

BMW launched a neat app in the Android Market. Called BMW EVolve, it’s designed to get drivers actively involved as “Collective Engineers” in creating the Electric Vehicles (EV) of tomorrow. As a user, you simply launch the app when driving and then let it do its magic in the background. The application will log and analyze your driving patterns and then beam the data to BMW’s servers. Basically the idea is to determine if a BMW ActiveE or an upcoming BMW all-electric vehicle is right for you. In other words, BMW EVolve wants to make a case on how switching to an EV will positively impact your life and the community around you.

On the other hand, all the data gathered will also provide an input to BMW engineers in designing of the future (EV) cars.
