We know there are “not that many” (to say the least) Symbian fans in the U.S. If you happen to be in this group, you’ll be glad to know that Amazon has started taking pre-orders for the Nokia E6, which as you probably know, is the Symbian Anna-runnin’, touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard equipped smartphone.
The price is $446 and that money gets you an unlocked, SIM-free device which will work on pretty much any GSM carrier around the world, including T-Mobile and AT&T. If that sounds like a good deal to you, proceed to this page at Amazon’s website and take it from there.
Before committing your hard-earned cash to the deal you should be aware of one caveat – the shipping date. Amazon says the E6 will be shipping in “one to two months,” which is pretty vague. I guess we’ll have Nokia rather than Amazon to blame for this…
As a reminder, the E6 builds on top of the success of Nokia E71 and E72, adding a VGA touchscreen to the mix. However, unlike the two mentioned devices, it comes with a fixed-focus camera that unfortunately makes business card scanning/reading troublesome, if not impossible at all.
