Huawei Sonic is an affordable NFC-enabled Android smartphone

Huawei is *really* getting serious about everything Android. Just recently we’ve seen the Chinese company launching the MediaPad tablet and then that “glorious” smartphone for Cricket Wireless. Now another Huawei-made device has been spotted, this time in Turkey. Called Sonic (aka Huawei T20), it’s a mid-range device with NFC capability and pre-loaded Gingerbread. Turkish Turkcell is offering it for 150 EUR (about $215), making for an awesome deal. At the same time, the Sonic also serves another purpose, helping make NFC mainstream — i.e. if everyone can afford an NFC-enabled phone then there’s a future for the technology.

Back to the States where FCC has recently approved Huawei’s baby for the U.S. market. We’ve no idea who will get to offer the Sonic and can only hope more than one carrier will jump on board in an effort to drive the use of NFC services. In the meantime, we have a short first look video of the device to share. Enjoy!
