Samsung denied access to iPhone 5, iPad 3 prototype info

A judge in the legal case between Apple and Samsung dealt a swift blow to the Korean manufacturer by denying its request to see iPhone 5 and iPad 3 prototype details. After Apple accused Samsung of lacking any real innovation and being design copycats, the Galaxy S maker demanded to see Apple’s iPhone 5 and iPad 3 prototypes. However, Apple wasn’t the one being accused of intellectual theft, and so Samsung’s motion had been denied by the overseeing judge.

It started in April when Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung over the Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets. The iPhone maker claimed, “Instead of pursuing independent product development, Samsung has chosen to slavishly copy Apple’s innovative technology, distinctive user interfaces, and elegant and distinctive product and packaging design, in violation of Apple’s valuable intellectual property rights.” Additionally, Apple requested an injunction on the sales of certain Samsung products.

In turn, Samsung sued Apple for wireless patent infringements – namely the technologies in error reduction for WCDMA networks, tethering mobile phones to PCs and improved battery consumption over HSPA networks.

It’s not surprising that the Galaxy S maker has been denied access to Apple’s plans and prototypes for its future iOS devices, however, the iPhone and iPad maker was denied its own request to place an injunction on sales of certain Samsung mobile devices.

As things heat up between the two manufacturers, we do have to wonder when the next iPhone model is coming out. Currently called the iPhone 5 by most, the rumors have pretty much give us a fall release, somewhere close to September. However, other clues point to a launch as early as August. The upcoming devices is said to be radically overhauled in terms of design and technology (i.e. casing, display, processor and camera), so we early adopters are eagerly waiting its announcement.
