Tapjoy closed a round of $30 million Series D financing, led by new investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management and including major existing investors Rho Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners, InterWest Partners and D.E. Shaw Ventures. The new money will be used to “accelerate the product technology roadmap,” expand direct advertiser relationships, broaden services and aggressively pursue new opportunities.
Over the past year, Tapjoy has experienced rapid growth and expansion as mobile app developers, advertisers and consumers embraced its technology and the Tapjoy model for the discovery, distribution and monetization of mobile applications. The company is betting heavily on the success of the Android platform, having recently launched a $5 million fund to help developers port apps to Google’s mobile platform. However, this is not to say they don’t support other mobile platforms — quite the contrary, Tapjoy also reaches audience across iOS, Windows Phone 7 and HTML5 apps.
