Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Verizon 4G LTE to start selling this Thursday for $529

Samsung’s much adored Galaxy Tab 10.1 is set to come to Verizon this coming Thursday for $529. For that amount of dough you get one of the sexiest looking tablets on the market that run Google’s Android operating system, specifically Honeycomb 3.1, and best of all it’ll come with the ability to use Verizon’s 4G LTE network, which last month was declared to be the fastest 4G network in America. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800, a rear facing 3 megapixel camera that can also capture HD video, a 2 megapixel front facing camera for video chats, 802.11 b/g/n support, and 16 GB of internal memory. Should you need more space, there’s a 32 GB model that sells for just $100 more. As for data plans, here are your options: $30 per month for 2 GB, $50 for 5 GB, or $80 for 10 GB. Once you go over your allotted data then prepare to fork over $10 for each additional GB. If you would rather have the WiFi only version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, then Verizon will also be offering that, and it can be had on the same July 28th launch date for just $500.

Should you get this thing? That’s a hard question to answer since there are some folks who still question why the tablet category even exists. Say you do want a tablet though, there are obviously more applications available for Apple’s iPad, and there are also rumors that there’s going to be a new iPad launching this fall with an insanely high resolution. Back in May Google also announced “Ice Cream Sandwich”, the next version of Android that promises to stop the fragmentation between smartphones and tablets. Devices running said OS will be out on the market by the end of this year, so do you think you can live with something that’ll be declared “out of date” in less than 6 months?

Tough call.
