Let’s Golf! 3 released as a free-to-play universal iOS app

Ever since this past May when Gameloft released a teaser trailer for its upcoming Let’s Golf! 3, we’ve been keeping an eye out for any information regarding the game. As is the typical Gameloft fashion, no other details on the game were released until its actual release date, which is today.

Let’s Golf! 3 has been officially released onto the iOS App Store as not only a universal app (which is a trend that first started with 9mm), but it’s also being made a completely free-to-play game. If you’ve been keeping up with Gameloft Let’s Golf! franchise, then you’ll notice Let’s Golf! 3 completely gets rid of playable characters with their own strengths and weaknesses in lieu the player creating their own fully customizable character.

If you’re the type of arcade golf player who tends to spend hours at a time playing through hole after hole, you’re going to have to learn to be patient as Let’s Golf! 3 has incorporated an energy system. If you want to play anything in Let’s Golf! 3, it’ll cost energy. As you level your player up, you’ll be able to hold more energy, which refills 1 energy bar per hour. If you’re the impatient type, you can always spend some in-game cash to have more energy.

Making Let’s Golf! 3 free-to-play was a completely bold move by Gameloft which I believe will completely pay off. These days, free-to-play games are doing better financially than games that have an upfront price. My guess is because people would rather spend $.99 here and there when they want a new hat for their avatar or access to a part of the game than paying a full $6 – $7. Hopefully this move will pay off for Gameloft as I’ve been a longtime fan of their Let’s Golf! franchise and the more successful this one is, the more likely they’ll continue making follow-up games.
