Rogers Wireless has introduced a new phone for those with the active lifestyle – Motorola Extreme VA76r. Scrap that, the Moto device is designed to be the single survivor of a hostile invasion, or at least the “certified to military standard 810F for dust, drops, vibration, temperature extremes, and humidity” label suggests so.

Apparently, the VA76r can withstand high temperatures (from 10 to 55 Celsius degrees), falls from a distance of 48 inches, extreme precipitation rates (280 l/m2/hr, 9 m/s velocity for 15 minutes), as well as the most humid and dusty conditions. Other specs include 2.2-inch screen, HSDPA support, 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, memory card slot, web browser.

Want it or should I say – do you really need it? If so prepare to pour out $199.99 and sign a way-too-long three-year contract…
