The general thought is that Android users don’t like to use apps as much as their iPhone counterparts and while that may actually be true, a new Nielsen study found that Android users are heavily into their apps. Android users interact with apps more than they do the mobile web.
The report said that Android users in the United States spend an average of 56 minutes per day on apps and the web but two-thirds of that time is spend within apps. In perhaps a bit of a surprise, 43 percent of all time spent with apps come from the Android Market’s top 10. You know what many of these are: Pandora, Facebook, etc. The top 50 apps account for 61 percent.
What this means is that there could be a lucrative market for Android app makers but it’s going to be tough to break through. Google recently redesigned the Android Market to better showcase new apps and we’ll have to see how that plays out now that the new version of the app store is out to many people.
Are you an Android user? Do you use apps more than the web?
