On the heels of the recent deal with Orange, BOKU announced expansion to two other major operators of France – Bouygues Telecom and Vivendi’s SFR. As a result, the number of people in France that can now conduct mobile payments with their phones has grown to more than 50 million.
If you recall, BOKU allows mobile phone users to make purchases with direct carrier billing, with the charge appearing on their carrier bill.
Bouygues Telecom and SFR will market the service as Internet + Mobile and allow for a fully integrated two-click purchase process that results in higher payouts, while giving online merchants access to a full range of price points of up to 10 Euros.
We’re eager to see how French will adopt mobile payments. For a start, one merchant (MovieStarPlanet) enabled the option allowing its customers to buy with their phones. We’ll keep watching and let you know as soon as we hear something new. Stay tuned…
