Gameloft teases Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation in new video; Modern Combat 2 on sale for $.99 [Update]

[Update: Soon after this article was published, Gameloft has disclosed what we can expect in Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation. The game’s single player campaign will include 13 missions and its multiplayer will allow for up to 12 players to fight on 6 maps in 6 different multiplayer modes. Modern Combat 3 will also incorporate a ranking system with over 90 experience ranks and Gameloft gloats the game will have “next-gen high quality visuals that will compete with the RAGE and UNREAL engines.” Seeing as how RAGE and Infinity Blade are two games that have captured iOS gamers’ hearts with their amazing graphics, this is certainly a claim I’m curious to see for myself.]

It was nearly one year ago when Gameloft allowed us to get some hands-on time with Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus and we were very impressed with not only how the game played, but how it looked on the iPhone 4’s Retina Display. Once again, Gameloft is dipping back into its Modern Combat franchise to deliver Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation this Fall.

For this being a teaser trailer for Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, it sure does show a lot of in-game footage along with actual gameplay. I’m not complaining, I’m just used to teaser trailers being a little less forthcoming in what will actually be delivered in the game. In the trailer embedded below, you’ll see a lot of explosions, shooting, and a hint of hand-to-hand combat. Not much else is known in terms of where the game will take place, how many levels we’ll play through, or if there are any improvements to its multiplayer mode, but I’m sure we’ll receive some info on all of that fairly soon.

Seeing as Gameloft officially announced the upcoming release of Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, they’ve dropped the price on the iPhone version of Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus to $.99 for a limited time. If you’ve never played the game, this would be the perfect opportunity to pick it up to prepare yourself for Modern Combat 3.
