Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T gets hands-on treatment [Video]

The Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T was unveiled in New York City today, and we went hands on with the latest, and arguably sweetest, Android smartphone for AT&T. It’s a hair smaller than the Infuse 4G, 4.3″ versus 4.5″, but the design cues are very similar. The Galaxy S II, however, runs an updated version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, which include neat features like homescreen folders, quick swiping through homescreens and Social Media Hub.

The Galaxy S II feels pretty good in the hand, nowhere near as monstrous as the Infuse 4G, which makes it easier to handle and to pocket. It’s also incredibly thin – the thinnest Galaxy S device from Samsung and one of the thinnest smartphones you can find on the market. Its size is perfect for those of you who like sleek devices, or prefer to have less bulk in the pockets of your skin-tight jeans.

This Android smartphone features a Super AMOLED Plus display, and it was pretty sharp and vivid when compared to the original Galaxy S  series of devices – a marked improvement. It also has an 8MP camera, which features a back-illuminated sensor for better light capture, on the rear and shoots high-definition video.

Overall, the in-hand feel of the Galaxy S II for AT&T is great, especially when compared to the almost-too-big Infuse 4G. Both are great phones, obviously, but if you’re looking for a slightly smaller Android smartphone with the latest software version and some additional new goodies, the Galaxy S II is definitely the way to go.
