United and Continental Airlines have started merging in Android realm too, with the bigger company (United) releasing a new mobile app that supports both carriers. As far as we can tell, the updated application is built on top of Continental’s Android app, providing passengers with handy features like check-in and mobile boarding pass storage, flight booking and flight status access. In addition, support for flight status push notifications also comes built-in, as well as access to airport maps (so cool) and flight view.
Finally, there are Red Carpet Club and Presidents Club locations, United social media information, DIRECTV listings, currency converter and Sudoku games to make that boring flight at least a bit entertaining (in case you don’t have some other game installed on your smartphone).
In a nutshell, if you live near United’s hub airport, you’ll definitely want to have their application running on your Android device… If for no other reason than to have all those check-ins on your phone rather than on paper…
