Sprint wants you to recognize HTC Evo 3D’s potential through the power of bubbles

It’s a damn shame we no longer get immersed in bubbles in the same way we did as children. But Sprint cares about us and the need for bubbles in our lives. Thank you, Sprint, for launching Bubble Mania 3D brought to you by the HTC EVO 3D.

Sprint put together an approximately two-minute video of the so-called flash mob. Ten professional bubble artists showed up at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, surprising groups of children and adults alike. The entire show was shot by Peck Media of Los Angeles using top-notch 3D video cameras.

So, if the purpose for this whole elaborate event is not to alleviate our nostalgia, what is it for? Sprint really wants us to understand the power of the HTC Evo 3D. The Evo 3D can shoot 720p HD 3D footage, perfect for moments like this. It also takes 5 MP stills with the third dimension. And all 3D content can be played back on the device without the need for glasses. Senior Vice Present of Product Development at Sprint, Fared Adib explains:

“We hope that this video will inspire people to create their own 3D mini movies or videos and share them online with their social networks. This is a fun attempt to show the possibilities of sophisticated mobile technology. You never know when you will want to take a video of something going on right in front of you, and HTC EVO 3D provides you that capability plus a whole lot more.”

Often times I think of 3D as a gimmick. I’m perfectly content with watching television shows or movies in 2D — I don’t need things popping out at me. This, however, is a pretty good marketing campaign. It’s actually fun to watch the video, and it successfully portrays one of the rare moments in life when a 3D camera might be beneficial. So with that, I give you Bubble Mania 3D.
