If you’ve somehow missed the hype, then you may not know exactly what today is. Today is the day you can walk into a Verizon Wireless store and grab the first ever dual-core/LTE handset available for the carrier, in the form of the Motorola Droid Bionic.

While we’re not too thrilled on the pricing of the handset, it wouldn’t be the first time we saw one of Verizon’s LTE phones sit at the $300 price point.  That said, the dual-core processor in the Bionic may be able to justify the price just a little bit more than others available today. Yeah, we’re looking at you, Charge. If you’re not looking to throw down three bills down for the Bionic, Amazon is shaving a nice chunk off of the final price, bringing it down to $179 (when it’s not backordered). If you don’t care about waiting a few days for the handset to ship, we’d suggest you go this route.

The handset looks significantly different from last time we had it in our hands, and the design change is for the better, as it will likely appeal to more people. Motorola doesn’t necessarily have knack for design but most designs from the Droid line are solid enough, so it’s hard to complain about the Bionic’s. Either way, looks aren’t what makes this handset worth while. Let’s not get started on the ‘qHD display, though”.

There’s been so much hype for this handset that many people who have been waiting on the thing are dead set on getting it, even with superior hardware right around the corner. These LTE handsets are known for notorious battery life and we’ve already heard some similar reports from the Bionic already. We’ll be giving our final decisions on it with our official review but we have our doubts that the Bionic will be anything special when it comes to battery life.

How many of you are planning on getting the Bionic today? Check out our video of the Droid Bionic:
