Along with today’s Mango launch, T-Mobile has announced their own Windows Phone from HTC.
As far as specs go, the HTC Radar has a 3.8-inch 480 x 800 touch display, 1 GHz processor, and 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. Although it’s plastered with 4G branding, the phone connects to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network at 14.4 Mbps – not quite the 42 Mbps we’re seeing on the HTC Amaze, recently announced for T-Mobile as well. We got some time to play with the phone shortly after it was announced a month ago, if you want to get a closer look.
T-Mobile was on the Windows Phone train when it left the station around this time last year, sporting the HTC HD7. It’s clear they’re still on board, despite the oodles of Android handsets they’re currently offering. Mango has a few new tricks up its sleeve, and should at least provide a momentary distraction for those who have their sights set on Android. Even with Mango, I still think Windows Phone has a lot of growing up to do, but in the long haul, I’m sure it will provide a viable alternative to Android and iPhone where BlackBerry and webOS have failed.
T-Mobile intends to have the Radar on store shelves in time for the holidays, but didn’t get specific about pricing.
