HTC EVO Design 4G for Sprint announced, the EVO line continues

The HTC EVO Design 4G – could these names possibly get any longer? – moves the EVO line forward into a new, global phone for half the price of what you’d normally expect. The EVO Design 4G is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone, and as the “4G” denotes, it’s also WiMax capable. That means you should get relatively decent data download and upload speeds, as well as good latency.

The EVO Design 4G has a 4-inch qHD display, something that seems to be coming standard on most Android smartphones these days, and is powered by a 1.2GHz single-core processor. You don’t get the benefits, or at least perceived benefits, of a dual-core processor, but I’d venture to say that this thing has enough juice under the hood to get you through your everyday tasks.

If you’re a fan of Sense UI, the EVO Design 4G has it. It features a 5MP rear camera for stills and video, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for self-portraits and video calling.

For a price tag of just $99 on a two-year contract, you could probably do worse. Look for it on October 23. Because that’s when it will be available.
