Total Immersion, which is one of the augmented reality pioneers, released a new version (3.2) of D’Fusion Studio, allowing developers to create a “new breed” of rich cross-platform, AR-based games and applications.
In its press release, the company reminds us they have more experience in augmented reality technologies than their competitors and that their product outperforms other AR solutions in three categories: the speed at which targets are recognized, the ability to track markerless targets as they move through an environment, and stability or lack of jitter in the tracked image and associated 3D elements.
Alongside the new D’Fusion Studio, Total Immersion also released a free iOS game, SkinVaders, to demonstrate the capability of its platform. SkinVaders literally brings players into the game, transforming their faces into game terrain over which alien invaders (aka SkinVaders) battle for domination. Players must tap quickly to combat these ugly creatures, while also popping eggs laid by the aliens. It’s like a whack-a-mole with the AR twist where your face is used as a playground. Awesome, don’t you think? 😉
