Live: Nokia World 2011 – Enter the Windows Phones

The day has finally come and we’re just minutes away from officially seeing what Nokia plans to do with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system. We’re fairly confident on the devices we’ll see, but there are bound to be some surprises.

Leaks suggest we’ll see at least three Nokia Windows Phone smartphones: the Lumia 710, 800 and the 900. Each Windows Phone Mango handset will sport respectable hardware and it represents the entry-level, mid-range and high-end markets. The hardware itself should be fun but what we’re really looking forward to is what, if anything, Nokia has done with the software.

While Windows Phone has restrictions on how much handset makers can tinker with the platform, Nokia is a “special partner” which will be contributing code. Maybe we’ll see Nokia’s stunning Ovi Maps on these devices first before it eventually trickles to other Windows Phone handsets.

Regardless of what happens, I’m here in London live to cover the keynote, so follow along below. If the WiFi’s spotty and pictures aren’t coming through clearly, just stick around, as I’ll have some hands-on photos and videos with these devices as soon as humanly possible.
