Mobile advertising startup MoPub, founded by former AdMob and Google employees, has an interesting idea, to provide app publishers and advertisers with a place where they can buy and sell ad inventories. The new MoPub Marketplace is touted as the “first self-service, real-time bidding platform for mobile advertising,” aimed at giving publishers access to new sources of revenue through a competitive auction, while enabling them to retain complete control and transparency.
Open to all types of iOS and Android publishers, from major media publishers to emerging social games and long-tail developers, it also enables publishers to monetize through direct-sold ads, cross-promotional campaigns, ad networks, and the mentioned real-time bidding.
Right from the start, the company managed to find more than 650 publishers to install MoPub SDK, which [publishers] have already served billions of monthly ad impressions. And now that the platform is open to everyone, they expect even more publishers and advertisers to jump on board…
Sounds cool, don’t you think?
