Amazon offering awesome smartphones for a penny

Amazon is kicking off the holiday shopping season early by offering multiple, high-end smartphones for a penny when you sign up for a new, two-year contract. Additionally, if you get a phone with a hotspot and activate it, then you can get a $100 Amazon gift card.

We’re not talking about junk smartphones either, as you can get the recently-released Droid Razr for just a penny. In our full review, we were a little disappointed with the battery life but found the design to be striking and the device is packed with all the features you’d like in a modern smartphone.

If that’s not your style, you can also pick up the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic Touch 4G for a penny as well. We absolutely love this phone, so if you can save on the entry-price, you may as well. You can also get the BlackBerry Torch 4G, Droid Incredible 2, Bionic 4G, Thunderbolt 4G and many, many more phones. You won’t be able to get any iPhones in this sale, however.

In general, I advise people to spend as much as they can afford for the best smartphone because you’re going to be paying thousands of dollars over the life of the contract, so that $200 or $300 is worth it to get a device that will still perform admirably in a year. But if you can save on those costs and still get an amazing device like the Razr or the Galaxy S II, then you may as well save on those up-front costs.

Any of you going to buy from Amazon?
