Again and again we see both small and big companies “going the iPhone way.” The new one we spotted is a big name – Wal-Mart, which has just recently launched an iPhone-optimized website.
Once you visit www.wal-mart.com from your iPhone/iPod Touch, you will be automatically redirected to the iPhone version from where you can browse the retailer’s products and services, see which stores have select item(s) in stock, as well as locate stores in your neighbourhood.
The bad thing, though, is that you cannot buy anything from an iPhone-optimized website. Rather, if you want to buy something, you will be redirected to Wal-Mart’s regular website. Not that you can’t complete your purchase from your beloved device, it’s just that optimizing the rest of the shopping process would make Wal-Mart’s offering even more compelling. Still, it’s a nice this move from such a big company and I’m sure the new website will be helpful for iPhone owners who shop frequently at Wal-Mart…
