BlueStacks, the folks behind the Android app player for Windows, conducted this interesting study called “Mr. Android” and the data – collected between December 12 to December 19 – was able to find what an Android user looks like.
Additional data was used from Nielsen Media Research along with a survey of Bluestacks’s 145,000 Facebook fans. Once all the information was collected, the company created an illustration of what the average Android user looks like and even what kind of clothes typical Android users might wear. Wait, there’s more, as the illustration (chart) includes country of origin and phone habits as well.
The chart breaks down some pretty incredible percentages. According to the study, 18 percent of users have unusually large heads, which might confirm the geek tag the Android platform get sometimes, just guessing. Also, 62 percent wear jeans and 63 percent have a significant other. Even though I found most of these numbers to be interesting, I paid more attention to the fact that 33 percent of users have zero paid apps on their phones. Why is this significant, you ask? Well, this would suggest that developers aren’t selling apps as much as I thought. It’s a little alarming to me that 1/3 of users don’t have single paid app in their library.
