CES 2012: Sprint debuts the LTE-infused LG Viper

Sprint today announced its latest Android smartphone, the LG Viper,  to join its family handsets. The Viper will be one of the first to use The Now Network’s forthcoming Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The device also sports Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 4.0-inch WVGA touchscreen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a primary 5.0-megapixel camera and front-facing VGA camera, and Near Field Communication (NFC) that’ll run with Google Wallet. All specs found on the Viper resemble those on MetroPCS’s LG Connect 4G.

Without a doubt, Sprint’s version not only looks better, but its LTE (whenever it rolls out nationally) will be faster than MetroPCS’s 4G network. There’s no word as of yet when it comes to the Viper’s launch date, but Sprint’s LTE network is set to go live before the middle of 2012.

Hopefully, the FCC can stop sitting on their hands and pass the Sprint and LightSquared LTE partnership currently on hold, as such a deal is crucial to The Now Network’s “Network Vision.” Speaking as a Sprint customer, I can’t wait until LTE rolls out so I can get my grubby hands on the Galaxy Nexus.
