StumbleUpon is one of the companies selected by Google to show off its app at the big Android booth in Barcelona. The web discovery service used the opportunity to launch a new version of its application for Android smartphones and tablets, as well as iOS-based devices.
The main new thing of the updated Android app is Ice Cream Sandwich support that takes advantage of the NFC-based Android Beam technology. As a result, users are able to quickly share any content they discover on StumbleUpon simply by touch other NFC-enabled device.
Then there’s a new native Android Action Bar, ensuring familiar user experience across the board. Moreover, you no longer have to open the StumbleUpon app to see what’s hot around the web — you can use widgets instead to have that information delivered directly to your homescreen.
Finally, the application now supports Google login and allows sharing to Google+ (in addition to Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon and email).
StumbleUpon also released updated apps for iPhone and iPad, NOOK Color and Kindle Fire, all of which have been redesigned to match the recently redesigned StumbleUpon website, while also supporting Channels for brands, sites and celebrities.
