Dungeon crawler ‘Infinity Blade: Dungeons’ announced for iOS [Update]

What would an Apple event showcasing the new iPad be without Epic Games taking center stage to demo a new game they’ve been working on? As they did with Infinity Blade and Infinity Blade 2, Epic Games has announced a brand new game for the iOS platform with Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

During today’s demo of the game, Infinity Blade: Dungeons seems like it won’t follow the traditional gameplay elements we all come to expect from an Infinity Blade game. Instead of dodging incoming attacks, parrying, blocking, and swinging at Titans, it looks like Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be a hack-n-slash dungeon crawler, similar to Diablo or Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter series.

As with most games that are revealed at Apple’s event, very little information was given as demo time for the game was extremely limited, but as soon as we hear more info on Epic Games’ new iOS title, we’ll be sure to report it here.

[Update: The news has officially reached my inbox. Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be a prequel to the Infinity Blade series as players will assume the role of an apprentice weaponsmith who has been sent by the Master of the Forge to forge the Infinity Blade as it’s the only thing that will defeat the Deathless. The game will feature a dynamic camera system that will take players in and out of battle, weapon crafting, and of course, exploration, which is said to have an innovative take on the traditional dungeon-crawling experience.

Epic also released a trailer that’s all in-game footage, and boy, it sure is nice to look at.]
