The original Samsung Galaxy S, the one that made the Korean company one of the biggest smartphone makers, won’t get its serving of Ice Cream Sandwich. Rather, as we reported before, Sammy will release a “value pack” for the phone, offering many of the Ice Cream Sandwich features, including Face Unlock, launcher improvements and the ability to take pictures while shooting video. In addition, I’m sure there is a ton of other improvements and tweaks under the hood, most of which are not visible to the end user (though they should make the phone more stable).
Well, that update is now available in South Korea (along with update for Galaxy K and Galaxy U) where users have to rely on Samsung’s everything-but-popular Kies 2.0 software to get the goods. We’ve no idea when the rest of the world will get the same treatment, and can only hope that will happen sooner rather than later. As far as I see, all the code is ready and now it’s all about the timing. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear something new on this. Stay tuned in the meantime…
