Nokia confirmed today on its Conversations blog that the Lumia 900 has a memory management problem which may cause the handset’s data connection to drop. There is a growing number of users who claim their handset loses its data connection and won’t reconnect even after a restart. Rather than ignore the problem, the Finnish company and AT&T, have decided “to take immediate action.”
Customers who bought the Lumia 900 are being offered a choice. They can wait and update their phone with the latest software on April 16 or trade the device in for a new Lumia at an AT&T store. AT&T is also offering each Lumia customer a $100 credit that’ll be applied to their bill. This offer for a credit supposedly extends to all Lumia handsets purchased between April 8th and April 21st.
Though it’s disappointing to see a handset launch with a flaw like that, it is encouraging to see Nokia and AT&T address the problem quickly and efficiently. The AT&T Lumia 900 went on sale this past Sunday, April 8, and is available for $99.99 with a two-year customer agreement.
