Within a month or so many Americans will start travelling abroad, when they may need to use their smartphone to access various Internet services. You can either rely on Wi-Fi hotspots or pour out some cash in advance and avoid being overcharged for checking your email while visiting a foreign country.

If you’re a Verizon customer, you’ll want to check out their new Global Data Plan, which will be available starting from April 23, offering 100MB of data for $25 a month. The plan covers 120 countries, including all of Europe, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada. And in case you’re traveling to countries not covered under the Global Data Plan, but within Verizon Wireless global coverage areas, you will be charged at Pay Per Use rates of $0.02 per KB.

Final note, this offer is good only for customers who have a domestic data package and international eligibility, which requires minimum payment history.
