Just in time for the National Park Week, National Geographic launched a new free application for iPhone called (guess) National Parks by National Geographic. Inside the app, you can browse guides for the 20 most visited national parks with more parks to be added soon.

Included are interactive maps for each park, all with filtering by activity and seasonality. Moreover, there are must see and must dos, curated by National Geographic editors, as well as photo tips from National Geographic photographers.

In addition, you can track your favorite parks, activities, itineraries, photos, collect park stamps, and share everything you like with your friends and/or colleagues via popular social networks.

National Parks by National Geographic is free to download, though expanded guides with additional information and photos are available for in-app purchase for 1 or 2 dollars. The first guide is free.

Related to the subject for those of you who own an iPad – you may want to check out Fotopedia National Parks app, which has been recently updated for Retina Display the new iPad rocks.
